MURREE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday discussed overall political situation with PML-N President Nawaz Sharif in Murree.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also attended the meeting to deliberate on the country’s political landscape, governance issues, and internal party matters.
According to sources, senior party leaders Rana Sanaullah and Khawaja Saad Rafique were also present during the consultation.
They discussed the upcoming by-elections in Punjab and controversy related to veteran PML-N leader Khawaja Asif.
The PML-N bigwigs also reviewed the performance of both the federal and Punjab governments, sharing their views on governance and development challenges.
The political analysts are viewing the meeting as a significant step in shaping the PML-N’s political direction in the coming months.
Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif met three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif to discuss political issues.
Last week, rumours circulated suggesting that Asif had resigned from his position—but he later strongly denied those claims.
The speculations emerged after Khawaja Asif made controversial remarks accusing parts of the bureaucracy of purchasing property in Portugal.
He criticised these bureaucrats as “crocodiles” who siphon billions and live comfortably in retirement, saying even the remaining resources of the politicians are consumed—making the bureaucratic class a stain on Pakistan. –Agencies
