Police repel terrorist attack on checkpost

DG Khan: The police on Friday repelled a terrorist attack on the Taunsa checkpost, preventing what could have been a significant security breach.
According to Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Hasan Khan, a group of 10 to 12 heavily armed terror-ists, equipped with rocket launchers and advanced weaponry, launched an assault on the check post. In response, the police engaged in a retaliatory operation, forcing the assailants to flee.
He further stated that the Lakhani check post, located near the Punjab-KP border, was targeted multi-ple times in recent weeks, making this the fifth such attack this month—all of which have been suc-cessfully thwarted.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the police for their swift and courageous action in countering what he described as an attack by “Khawarij terrorists” on the checkpost.
In his statement, Naqvi lauded the bravery of the police personnel, emphasizing their resolute stand against extremist elements. “The police demonstrated exceptional courage in repelling the attack, and we deeply appreciate their efforts,” he remarked. He added that the professional and strategic response of the force has consistently neutralized the evil plans of these militants.
“I extend my congratulations to the entire police team for crushing the devilish designs of these ter-rorists. The valiant and professional officers of Punjab Police are a source of pride for us all,” he con-cluded. –Agencies
