ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Wednesday issued production orders of four members of national assembly (MNAs) belonging to different political parties including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Syed Khurshid Shah, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Ahsan Iqbal. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal and Saad Rafique are in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody for the investigation of corruption references against them. It must be noted that President Arif Alvi has summoned the session of the National Assembly on January 30, according to a notification issued by the NA secretariat. The President has summoned the National Assembly Session in the exercise of powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, said a press release. Meanwhile, An accountability court on Wednesday extended judicial remand of former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique in Paragon Housing Society scam till February 11. PMLN stalwart Khawaja Saad Rafique and Salman Rafique were produced before the accountability court in Lahore today. “Who is the complainant of the Paragon Society,” the judge asked the NAB lawyer during the hearing. “The investigation officer and the lawyer have failed to convince the court, what you say, the court summon the NAB chairman or acquit the accused,” the judge asked. National Accountability Bureau submitted a petition to the court seeking production of the land record of the Paragon Housing Society in the case hearing. Investigation officer met with the witness on the order of the court, NAB prosecutor informed the court. The NAB has ceased the accounts, the counsel of Qaiser Amin Butt, who turned witness for the prosecution, told the court. –Agencies
