Prime Minister Imran Khan spoke to the King of Bahrain, His Majesty Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, to discuss the tense situation in occupied Kashmir, a press release said.

According to the statement, PM Imran apprised the Bahraini king “of the evolving situation in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and Indian violation of the UN Security Council”.

It further stated that the premier “strongly condemned and rejected the announcement made by the Government of India and underlined that they were in violation of UNSC Resolution.

“He stressed that IOK was an internationally recognized disputed territory and no unilateral step by Indian Government can change the disputed status as maintained in the UNSC Resolution.

“He urged that international community must play its role to stop India from this irresponsible and unilateral action to maintain peace and stability of the region.

In response, Shaikh Hamad said his country and leadership were observing the situation. “The King of Bahrain said that the government of Bahrain was closely monitoring the developments in the IOK with deep concern and hoped that all issues would be resolved through dialogue,” the statement added.
