BEIJING: Agriculture and food security, as the foundation of peace and stability, development and prosperity, is a key area of China-ASEAN cooperation, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said on Tuesday.
Premier Li made the remarks in a congratulatory letter to the opening ceremony of the China-ASEAN Year of Agricultural Development and Food Security Cooperation.
We hope both sides will further strengthen policy communication, exchange and cooperation, and jointly contribute East Asian wisdom and set an example for global food and agriculture governance, Li added.
China is willing to work with ASEAN countries, as good neighbors, good friends and good partners, to take the year of cooperation in agricultural development and food security as an opportunity to deepen cooperation in key areas such as green agricultural development, poverty reduction and rural revitalization, smart agriculture and digital countryside construction, and work together to build a common home of peace, prosperity and beauty, and promote the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership to go deeper and more practical, he said.
