Premier to arrive in Lahore shortly for day-long visit

Prime Minister Imran Khan will arrive in Lahore shortly for a one-day visit to the city. According to reports, the premier will participate in the closing session of International Sikh Convention at the Governor House as the chief guest.

In addition, he will hold a meeting with Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on issues related to the province.

PM Imran will also chair a high level meeting of the officials of Punjab government at the Chief Minister House in the city. The visit comes amid high tensions in Pakistan over the illegal annexation of Kashmir by New Delhi.

Last week, in an address to the 56th Convention of Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) in Houston via video link, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said terrorism has nothing to do with religion and that Islam is a religion of peace.

Speaking about the prevailing situation in Indian occupied Kashmir, the prime minister said the people of the valley have been under siege for the last 28 days.

The prime minister added we are talking about a country of one billion people, with nuclear weapons and extreme ideology and philosophy. “Kashmir is a disputed territory and its future is to be decided by a plebiscite of its people,” PM Imran said.
