LAHORE: President Asif Ali Zardari said that all the segments of the society should be consulted to find long-term solutions to public problems.
He made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) from South Punjab at the Governor’s House, Lahore on Thursday.
The delegation included former PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf, MPA Mumtaz Ali Chang, Makhdoom Shahabuddin and MNA Makhdoom Tahir.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the President on issues being faced by the South Punjab.
A detailed discussion was held on various issues and matters of public concern.
President Zardari appreciated the role of all political forces in strengthening democratic values. He emphasized that promoting the political dialogue is crucial for the continuity of democracy and the stability of institutions.
Earlier, Asif Ali Zardari reached Lahore from Islamabad on a three-day visit.
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan received the President at Lahore Airport.
During his stay in Lahore, President Zardari also attended the concluding ceremony of Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Gaddafi Stadium as chief guest.
He also held meetings with senior leaders and workers of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) during Lahore visit.

During his stay, President Zardari is scheduled to attend the final match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Sunday. He will also hold meetings with senior leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab chapter.
Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the political, regional and economic situation.
Both the leaders also discussed the internal and external security issues keeping in view the ongoing regional developments.
PPP chairman briefed the prime minister on recent contacts made regarding the Pakistan-India tensions and shared details of a recent briefing held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting also included discussions on the latest developments following the rise in tensions with India.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had assigned PPP chairman the critical task of promoting Pakistan’s call for peace on the global stage, in the wake of the recent military escalation with India.
Bilawal posted on X that he was reached by the prime minister who requested that the former top diplomat “lead a delegation to present Pakistan’s case for peace on the international stage”.
Bilawal said he was honoured to accept the responsibility and remained committed to serving the country in “these challenging times”.
The PPP said the committee would also “inform the international community about Indian aggression and its false propaganda”.
