President hails Forces for curbing terrorism

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari Friday lauded the security forces for eliminating five terrorists during operation in Tirah , district Khyber.
He appreciated the bravery of security forces for killing five Khawarij including Khawariji ringleader Obaidullah during an intelligence based operation.
He expressed determination to completely eradicate Fitna Al-Khawarij from the country. The President said security forces were carrying out operations to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
The whole nation was united against terrorism, adding operation would continue against Fitna al-Khawarij till its complete eradication.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Friday appreciated security forces for successful operation against terrorists of Fitna Al-Khawarij in Tirah, district Khyber. He lauded the security forces for killing five Khawariji terorrists.
He said the whole nation stood with the security forces in the war against terrorism.
“We are determined to fully eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country,” he added.
Earlier, Security Forces on Friday killed five Khwarij terrorists including ring leader Abidullah in an intelligence based operation in general area Tirah Khyber District on reported presence of Khwarij.
“During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged Khwarij location, as a result of which, five Khwarij including Kharji ring leader Abidullah@ Turab, gunned down, while one Kharji was apprehended, said an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the Khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area against the security forces as well as killing of innocent civilians. “Sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” it added.
Earlier, Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced to launch a training programme for female bus drivers, specifically for its flagship women-only pink buses.
The minister announced the decision while presiding over the 10th board meeting of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) in Karachi. The board considered providing subsidies for the People’s Bus Service following the approval by the cabinet.
It also decided to initiate training programmes for women drivers, specifically for women-only pink buses, so that the female passengers in those buses could feel safer. The board also discussed the second phase of the Peoples Bus Service, which includes the addition of 500 buses as well as introduction of an environment-friendly electric taxi service.
The SMTA board meeting also reviewed the progress in the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Saleem Rajput, SMTA Managing Director Kamal Dayo, DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, planning and development department representative Sikandar Shaikh and Trans Karachi Chief Executive Officer Tufail Paliju.
