Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Al-Ahmed bcomes IIUI president

ISLAMABAD: Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Al-Ahmed officially assumed the responsibilities of President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Monday, marking the beginning of a new administrative chapter for the university.
Upon his arrival at the New Campus, Dr. Al-Ahmed was warmly received by the university’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, along with Vice Presidents Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed and Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman, said a press release.
The reception also included Deans, Directors General, Directors, the In-Charge of the Female Campus, and the In-Charge Protocol and Public Relations.
The newly appointed President held a one-on-one meeting with the Rector at his office, during which they discussed key issues related to institutional development, academic excellence, student-focused initiatives, and the international standing of the university. Earlier, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed formally handed over the charge to Prof. Dr. Al-Ahmed, followed by a collective prayer for the future progress of IIUI.
A reception was later held in his honour, where Rector Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed highlighted the importance of teamwork and unity. “This is a moment of transition and opportunity.
We now have a visionary president to lead us toward academic distinction. Let’s move forward without divisions,” he said.
Emphasizing a collective commitment, he called upon the university community to work with professionalism and unity. The Rector also expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued support of IIUI, particularly acknowledging the contributions of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Al-Ahmed thanked the Rector and university officials for the warm welcome and expressed his commitment to the university’s mission. “Islam unites us as one nation,” he said, adding that his doors remain open to students, faculty, and staff.
He echoed the Rector’s call for academic integrity and depoliticization, and reaffirmed his resolve to address institutional challenges through collective wisdom. Both the President and Rector reiterated that the welfare of students and academic advancement will remain at the core of their shared vision for IIUI.
