PS Shehzad Town thwarts major drugs smuggling attempt, seizes huge cache of drugs

ISLAMABAD: Criminal Shehzad Town police has thwarted a major drugs smuggling attempt and seized huge cache of drugs, a police spokesman said.
He said that, on the special orders of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed had categorically directed all police officers to accelerate their efforts against drug dealers/smugglers and curb this menace from capital. Following these directions, SP (Rural) Malik Naeem Iqbal constituted special anti-drug police teams under supervision of SDPO Shehzad Town headed by SHO Shehzad Town Inspector Hakim Khan Niazi and others.
Police team during special checking at Jabbi check post stopped a vehicle. Police team searched the vehicle and recovered 9.090 kilogram hashish. Police team aslo arrested an accused later identified as Qais Khan s/o Jamal Din r/o zakha khel, landi kotal peshawar.
During preliminary investigation, the drug smuggler revealed that he was smuggling drugs from KPK to twin cities and Kashmir. He remained jail bird in numerous cases of drugs. Further legal proceedings initiated.
IGP Islamabad and DIG (Operations) has appreciated the bravery and efficient performance of Shehzad Town Police team and announced cash rewards for them.
DIG (Operations) has said that Islamabad police is accelerating all out efforts for safety and security of citizens.
He also requested the citizens to inform police in case of any such suspicious activity in their areas.
