PTI Chief reaches out to JI Ameer amid political crisis

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Monday made a telephonic conversation with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq.
Imran Khan and Sirajul Haq held a telephonic conversation over the current political situation and matters related to mutual interests. The PTI chairman apprised Sirajul Haq that his government was removed through a conspiracy. He said that the patriotic powers must have to step forward to foil the conspiracy.
The JI Ameer expressed well wishes to Imran Khan and both leaders agreed to continue consultations over the political matters. Khan has given a task to PTI central leaders including Pervez Khattak and Asad Qaiser to stay in contact with the Jamaat-e-Islami leadership.
While talking to the media, Sirajul Haq said that Imran Khan has contacted him after five years. He added that JI takes each decision in the Shura session.
The JI Ameer said that his political party was not part of the no-trust motion against former prime minister Imran Khan in the Centre nor did it join hands with the opposition. He clarified that JI was not aiming to topple the PTI government but it has a great ideology.
Haq said that he had questioned the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) whether it was aiming to establish an Islamic governance system or something else. “We did not become part of PDM as they were very clear on their agenda.”
“JI was present as an alternative opposition. We have only one Member of the National Assembly (MNA) who is sitting on the opposition bench. At this time, no government exists in the country.”
Sirajul Haq said that JI will observe Palestine Day on Friday. He also said that Kashmir is the matter of life and death for the country but the rulers are not giving importance to the longstanding dispute. He added that the government should act in accordance with the nation’s aspirations.
