ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday alleged that the agenda of the ruling Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is anti-education.
The PPP chairman took to the social media website Twitter and said that the ruling party’s consistent assault on Higher Education Commission (HEC) funding is having very real consequences of a time medical universities are at the frontline battling Covid-19. He said that the PTI has cut HEC funding in last budget and refused to significantly raise funding in this year’s budget.
Bilawal went on to say that the cut in the funding of the HEC would lead to the increase in the students’ fees while the staff salaries will be cut and eventually some universities will be forced to shut. Further lashing out at the PTI, the PPP chairman said that the ruling party should be ashamed on its anti-education agenda, adding that they haven’t even bothered to support medical universities and teaching hospitals during a global pandemic. – Agencies
