LAHORE: The Punjab Tianjin University of Technology (PTUT) on Thursday signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shenzhen Low Altitude Future Technology (SLAFT), a leading Chinese company specialized in UAVs, low-altitude systems, and intelligent equipment.
Under the MoU, PTUT and SLAFT will collaborate on high-impact areas, including: Joint R&D in drone technologies for agriculture, commercial, industrial, and specialized applications,
Establishment of a Center of Excellence at PTUT for drone repurposing, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), as well as pilot training and certification.
Development of curricula and short courses in UAV avionics, control systems, flight planning, automation, endurance, and safety. The partnership also includes technology transfer and indigenization to support local manufacturing and adaptation of drone systems in Pakistan.
Additionally, both sides will jointly pursue national and international R&D funding opportunities, strengthen linkages with Chinese universities and industry, and promote faculty and student exchange programs in fields such as autonomous systems, robotics, artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation, integrated circuits, communications, and new energy vehicles.
The MoU further includes the establishment of maker labs and rapid-prototyping facilities, along with structured mechanisms for technology transfer and capacity building for PTUT faculty, staff, and students in emerging technologies. –Agencies
