Putin holds phone talks with Azerbaijani, Kyrgyz Presidents

BAKU: President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin Monday made a phone call to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
During the phone conversation the heads of state congratulated each other on the 76th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, saying courage of savior warriors is remembered, and the veterans who showed unprecedented heroism and selflessness are honored with gratitude in both countries.
They affirmed both sides` commitment to further expansion of Azerbaijan-Russia comprehensive mutual activities.
During the conversation the heads of state noted that contacts at different levels would be continued.
Meanwhile, a phone talks were held on Monday between Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and Russian Vladimir Putin.
The press service of the Kyrgyz president said that the conversation was held on the initiative of the Russian side.
The two presidents congratulated each other on the 76th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Russian leader also offered congratulations to the people of Kyrgyzstan on the adoption and entry into force of the new Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the talk, the two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation, as well as the situation related to the recent conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. Vladimir Putin noted the Russian Federation is ready to provide the Kyrgyz Republic with necessary assistance in overcoming the humanitarian consequences of the border conflict.
As a result of the talks, the sides agreed to hold a working visit of President Sadyr Zhaparov to Moscow late May this year, during which the most urgent issues of bilateral cooperation and Eurasian economic integration will be discussed.
The parties will pay special attention to cooperation in the interests of regional security, including within the CSTO, CIS and SCO.
In addition, Sadyr Zhaparov and Vladimir Putin are expected to discuss measures taken to combat the coronavirus infection pandemic, including the supply of Russian vaccines to the Kyrgyz Republic.
Earlier in the day, the program of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergei Lavrov to Azerbaijan on May 10-11 has been announced.
“Particular attention will be paid to the comprehensive implementation of the statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia dated November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021. It is planned to consider the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, the humanitarian aspects of the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, issues of post-conflict reconstruction, and the establishment of a peaceful life.
The main tasks are to unblock all transport and economic ties in the region. The foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Russia will also discuss issues of coordination of interaction at the platforms of leading regional and international associations – the CIS, UN, OSCE, Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Council of Europe (CE), BSEC,” the Russian MFA said.
As reported, despite the difficult situation amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian-Azerbaijani dialogue remained intense in 2020 and is gradually returning to face-to-face format.
It is based on regular contacts at the highest and high levels, developed inter-parliamentary, intergovernmental, and interdepartmental ties, as well as interaction at the regional level.
