Karachi: Former Pakistan pacer Umar Gul has been appointed as bowling coach of Quetta Gladiators for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six.
The 36-year-old Umar has done ‘Level-2 coaching course’ and recently retired from all forms of cricket in October 2020. He has also represented Gladiators in two PSL seasons (2016, 2017).
Gul will be replacing Abdul Razzaq, who served as Gladiators’ bowling coach in the past few seasons. Razzaq had to step down due to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) policy.
PCB’s policy states that an individual working with PCB can’t get associated with PSL franchises in any capacity. Razzaq is serving as head coach of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s side in domestic cricket.
Note, all six teams picked their squad for the upcoming season of the PSL. The extravaganza is scheduled to start on February 20 with defending champions Karachi Kings taking on Quetta Gladiators in the first contest.
