Islamabad: While the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is all set to participate in the Expo 2020 Dubai and showcase its investment potentials, Rashakai Special Economic Zones (SEZs) will be one of the attractions for foreign investors. In January 2022, KP will showcase tourism, agriculture, industry, mines and minerals, energy, infrastructure, information technology, SEZs to potential investors at Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
CEO of KP-Board of Investment & Trade (KP-BIOT) Hassan Daud Butt said that through the Expo they are not only attracting investments but also promoting culture and tourism of the province. “We have prepared policy framework, investment strategy, industrial policy, digital policy. We are going to showcase these policies, our potentials and natural endowment and resources,” he said in a video message. Rashakai SEZ, a project under the umbrella of China Economic Corridor (CPEC) could be one of the attractions for the foreign investors and Pakistani diaspora.
The Rashakai SEZ, which is spread over an area of approximately 1,000 acres of land, is located at Nowshera KP. “A number of foreign investors are already there, so the presence of foreign investors could encourage other foreigners to come and invest,” Peshawar-based Journalist Waqas Shah told Gwadar Pro, adding besides SEZs the province had a great potential for investment in the sectors of mines and mineral and tourism.
The Government of KP has launched a website to connect potential investors with the stakeholders, which is also providing all requisite information about the potential investment sectors. Since the Pakistan Pavilion was opened at Expo 2020 Dubai on October 9, more than 5.5 million visitors have visited the area and more visitors are expected to show up at the pavilion in coming days. –Agencies
