RAW behind deadly terror attacks: Sindh Governor

QUETTA: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori on Wednesday accused neighbouring Afghanistan and India’s RAW of supporting militants responsible for a series of deadly attacks in the southwestern province of Balochistan. “This conspiracy against us is being hatched from two places,” Tessori told media. “It’s linked to the RAW [Indian spy agency] set up in Afghanistan, and all these activities are being carried out in Pakistan through RAW’s setup in Afghanistan.”
He further stated, “These anarchists are after Pakistan’s economy and its armed forces,” and suggest-ed that the intensity of the attacks increases in response to the progress of major projects like Saudi investments, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) developments, or improvements in Pakistan’s relations with countries such as the UAE and Türkiye.
Tessori added, “RAW does not want CPEC projects to be completed in Pakistan. They don’t want Paki-stan to improve its ties with its neighbouring countries.”
The attacks began when separatist militants took control of a highway in Balochistan, killing 23 people, primarily labourers from Punjab. They also destroyed a key railway bridge linking Balochistan with the rest of Pakistan and attempted to storm paramilitary camps in the Bela and Kalat districts.
On Tuesday night, militants attempted to seize another important highway but were forced to retreat when paramilitary forces intervened. These attacks represent the most extensive offensive by sepa-ratists in years.
The insurgents are seeking secession of Balochistan, crucial to major Chinese-led projects, including a port and a gold and copper mine. The government maintains that it is working to develop Balochistan through various initiatives, despite accusations of exploitation. –Agencies
