ISLAMABAD: A retired government official and his young daughter were swept away by flood waters after their car was caught in rising rainwater and slipped into a drain in Phase 5 area of a private housing society on Tuesday.

According to details, the retired official, aged between 62 and 64, had left his residence in Sector A of Phase 5 along with his daughter, approximately 25 years old, in a grey Honda City.
He said the vehicle stalled due to heavy water accumulation on the road. As the man attempted to restart the car, the water flow intensified, sweeping both the vehicle and its occupants into a nearby drain. Police teams, rescue services, staff of the housing society, and divers launched a search operation soon after receiving the alert. He added that search efforts were ongoing and updates would be shared as the situation develops.
