Southampton: Pakistan’s wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan is confident that his side can still dominate against England in the third Test at the Rose Bowl.
The hosts enforced the follow-on after bowling Pakistan out on 273. The visitors made a comeback from 75-5 courtesy skipper Azhar Ali and Rizwan, who added 138 runs for the sixth wicket.
Rizwan thinks that Pakistan will overcome the deficit of 310 runs and will also add additional runs for England to chase in the fourth innings.
“Our batters are in form and if we play positively, we can do it. We have a few batsmen who can score big, if we can take a 150-run lead then it will be tough for England,” the 28-year-old told reporters.
“If we can do that, then I am sure, Naseem Shah, Yasir Shan, and other have the potential to defend that total in the fourth innings,” he added.
Rizwan has been in the talks for his recent performances but according to him, he has just started. “It is not enough, it is not the end of me, its just a beginning. I have to do a lot more for my side’s progress,” he maintained.
He praised Azhar’s knock and termed it as “Fighting innings”, who had only managed 38 runs in three previous innings this series.
“If you watched this innings closely, it was a superb inning. He worked on his head position. This was a fighting inning,” he added.
