RAWALPINDI: Qawwali Night on topic of spirituality was organized at Punjab Council of Arts (PUCAR) during which Rohan Abbas Khan, who won the title of Chhotey Ustad from India in Qawwali Night, evoked the magic of his voice and got a standing ovation from the audience. Member Punjab Assembly Seemabia Tahir was special guest of the Qawwali Night while renowned poet Farheen Chaudhry was the anchor.
Addressing the participants of the event, MPA Seemabia Tahir said that by listening to Qawwali one reaches a different world of Sufism. Qawwali played an important role in spreading Islam in the subcontinent, she added.
Seemabia said that Sufis raised the banner of Islam in the subcontinent thanks to this art. She congratulated Rohan Abbas Khan for presenting the best Qawwali.
Speaking on the occasion, Naheed Manzoor said that in the present era, there is an important need to hear music on Sufism. She further said that the art of Qawwali has not become obsolete in Pakistan due to young artists.
Director Arts Council Waqar Ahmed in his address said that Qawwali is related to spirituality and Qawwali is a way to connect man with God.
Rohan Abbas is an emerging name in Qawwali whose future is bright. A large number of citizens turned to the Arts Council to listen to the Qawwali.
