Foreign Desk Report
MOSCOW: Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has permitted the import of dried fruits from the Fergana region of Uzbekistan. According to the Uzdavkarantin website, the delivery of dried fruits is carried out by indicating the name and address of the manufacturer on the product label. Each batch of dried fruits imported from the Fergana region is accompanied by an initial electronic notification and protocols of laboratory tests confirming the phytosanitary safety of products.
According to the results of negotiations between Uzdavkarantin and Rosselkhoznadzor, from January 1, 2021, the Russian Federation allows importing dried products from the Fergana region. Prior to the agreement, a working group had conducted an in-depth study of the phytosanitary situation in the region.
“Additional requirements have been introduced in the process of exporting dried products to the Russian Federation. According to the new requirements, phytosanitary certificates must have a column “additional declaration”, which indicates the name and address of the manufacturer.
At the same time, for each consignment of dried fruit products exported from the Fergana region the initial e-notification and the results of laboratory tests confirming the phytosanitary safety of the product will be attached” the report said.
It should be recalled that Rosselkhoznadzor banned on December 7 the import of all plant products from the Fergana region due to the detection of a dangerous pest – the khapra beetle in a batch of dried apricots.
