SKARDU: A section 144 has been imposed in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) for a hiatus of one month, media reported.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gilgit Baltistan has issued a notification of the section 144 imposition in the area.
Show of arms, aerial firing and pillion ridding have also been banned.
However, women, children and elders would be exempted from the pillion ridding.
According to the DC, the section 144 would be applicable immediately.
Earlier, the Gilgit-Baltistan police have imposed a ban on the use of the social media platform TikTok by its personnel in a move aimed at maintaining discipline and the dignity of the force, the Information Department of Gilgit-Baltistan said.
A notification issued by the office of the Inspector General of Police stated: “In order to maintain discipline, uniformity, and dignity of the force, it is hereby directed that no GB police officer/official shall use the social media platform (TikTok).”
All District Police Officers and Unit Heads have been instructed to convey the directive to their respective staff. The notification further warns that any violation of the order will result in disciplinary action.
The ban has been implemented with the approval of the competent authority.
TikTok has released its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the first quarter of 2025, saying that it removed nearly 25 million videos in Pakistan during the period for violating of the guidelines.
“In Q1 2025, TikTok removed a total of 24,954,128 videos in Pakistan. Proactive removal rates in Pakistan remained high at 99.4%, with 95.8% of these videos removed within 24 hours,” a press release issued here read
The report, which covers data from January to March 2025, detailed the steps taken by TikTok to identify and remove content that violates its Community Guidelines. –Agencies
