Senate offers Fateha for Mufti Shakoor

ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Wednesday offered Fateha for the departed soul of former Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Mufti Abdul Shakoor, who lost his life in a tragic traffic accident in Islamabad.

Bank holidays for Eid ul Fitr announced

ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Wednesday announced five-day holidays on account of Eid ul Fitr — a religious festival celebrated by Muslims across the world.
The central bank, in a notification issued in this regard, announced that the bank will remain closed from April 21 to 25 (Friday to Tuesday). It should be noted that the federal government had also approved a five-day holiday as one of the most anticipated holidays for Muslims that marks the end of the holy month of fasting.News reports suggest that the government might extend the Eid holidays to six days instead of the already approved five days.
While the people are expecting Eid ul Fitr to be on April 21, Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council Secretary General Khalid Aijaz has ruled out the possibility, saying that the moon will not be sighted on April 20.
Speaking to a private news channel, the official earlier said that the crescent marking beginning of Shawwal will be sighted after the completion of 30 days of Ramadan, according to which Eid ul Fitr will fall on April 22, Saturday. –Agencies
