Session on Policing & Journalism held

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Police organized a session focusing on Policing and Journalism at Central Police Office Islamabad.
Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, crime reporters from renowned media organizations, and senior police officers were present on the occasion.
During the session, the journalists raised issues, and recommendations for further improvements in measures taken by Islamabad Capital Police for the convenience of the citizens were presented. Moreover, different aspects of Islamabad Capital Police’s daily operations and various dimensions of public communication and publicity were also discussed.
Addressing the session, ICCPO Dr Akbar Nasir Khan highlighted the crucial role that the field of journalism plays in societal improvement. He emphasized that Islamabad Capital Police continues its efforts to maintain regular interaction with journalists, aiming to disseminate timely and fact-based news.
He stressed the importance of news being based on truth, especially when related to the police, to prevent the spread of baseless and fake news.
ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan further stated that the establishment of a Public Relations Branch within Islamabad Capital Police whose basic values are timely and factual news aimed to maintain the best coordination with journalists and promptly convey accurate information to the public.
He urged journalists to include the police’s perspective whenever publishing news related to police, ensuring that citizens can avoid baseless and false reports.
He further said that we have always disseminated news based on facts and operating within a structured framework. He also acknowledged the vital role journalists play in police operations against criminal elements
Addressing the journalists, he said that the Islamabad Capital Police is impossible without your help and support in the Federal Capital.
