Khushab: In a tragic incident in Tehsil Noorpur administrative subdivision of Khushab District in Punjab, seven children drowned and one was rescued after the boat overturned in a canal.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia communicated with the Khushab Deputy Commissioner, urging the district administration to expedite the rescue operations.
Rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene and managed to save one child, while the search for the remaining children is still underway, according to a spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
DG PDMA emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for allowing the children to board the boat without life jackets.
Earlier, A boy is feared drowned in the canal near Chak 134-L. Eyewitnesses said three friends were taking bath in the canal when incident happened. Rescue 1122 sources said they had rescued two boys but they would not save the third one.
Rescue 1122 said they are searching the body of 13-year-old boy who could not be identified. –Agencies
