Karachi: Pakistan Shaheens were bowled out for 194 in the first innings of the only four-day game against New Zealand ‘A’ at Cobham Oval in Whangarei.
Former captain Azhar Ali was the notable run-getter, scoring 58 off 172 balls. He hit three fours and posted a 49-run stand for the third wicket with Imran Butt, who was the next best scorer in the innings with 27.
Captain Rohail Nazir scored 21 off 37 which included four boundaries before he became the sole wicket of Matt Henry.
Left-arm pacer Ed Nuttall was the pick of the bowlers, claiming five for 54. Nuttal dismissed Shan Masood (8), Abid Ali (7), Fawad Alam (3), Ammad Butt (13) and Azhar.
Right-arm pacer Nathan Smith was the other notable bowler with three wickets for 29 runs.
In reply, New Zealand ‘A’ made 23 for the loss of one wicket at the end of Day 1 play. Seamer Mohammad Abbas took the only wicket.
Rachin Ravindra and Ken McClure, both not out on 11, will resume New Zealand A’s innings on the second morning of the match.
