Shanghai Industrial Museum opens 70 new collections

BEIJING: To showcase the glorious history and achievements of the Shanghai industry, more than 70 collections of the Shanghai Industrial Museum were officially collected during a ceremony held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center on Tuesday.
Guan Weiyong, the president of the Shanghai Federation of Economic Organizations (SFEO), said the first batch of more than 70 objects and pictures recorded the development of Shanghai’s industry and showcased the spirit of craftsmanship.
According to Guan, these collections fall into three categories. Collections with high historical value are the first category, such as the 10,000-ton hydraulic press, marking the development of China’s heavy machinery manufacturing industry into a new stage.
The second category refers to collections that are relevant to people’s daily lives, including China’s first self-developed light bulb and Forever bicycle, and the third is industry-leading collections like the 58-1 camera.
Since unveiling the collection program in February this year, Shanghai Industrial Museum has received wide attention and feedback from all walks of life. Through the first batch of industrial collections, visitors can feel the glorious history of Shanghai’s industry and experience the unique charm of industrial culture.
