Shanghai reports two more infections

Shanghai: Shanghai reported two locally transmitted COVID-19 infections, including a confirmed case, outside of quarantine and lockdown communities on Monday, the Shanghai Health Commission said at a press briefing.
One infection is a 4-year-old girl living in Jing’an district. She caught a fever and went to a fever clinic on Sunday, and her nucleic acid test result came out abnormal. The girl, who has not received a COVID-19 vaccine, had her infection subsequently confirmed.
The other infection is a 57-year-old man living in Minhang district. His nucleic acid test showed an abnormal result during regular nucleic acid tests for all residents.
Fu Jun, vice-governor of Jing’an, said there have been infections in the district’s Gonghexin Road subdistrict in recent days, and the situation of epidemic prevention and control in the area has become complicated.
“Therefore, starting from Saturday, we’ve conducted massive nucleic acid tests for residents in the subdistrict for three consecutive days. We may expand the scope of screening based on experts’ estimation of the risk of the virus’ spread,” he said.
Officials have been stationed at locked down and controlled compounds to survey the communities around the clock and provide living necessities and necessary assistance to residents, especially vulnerable groups, Fu said.
