ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has emphasized the preparation of a skilled human resource aligned with future requirements under the Prime Minister’s Digital Nation Pakistan vision.
She expressed these views while presiding over the seventh meeting of the National Committee on ICT Skills and Capacity Development here Wednesday, said a press release. The meeting emphasized strengthening linkages between industry and educational institutions to promote digital skills, said a press release. The meeting was informed that, in collaboration with Huawei, one hundred thousand ICT trainings have been imparted so far.
The target for ICT trainings has been set at three hundred thousand.
The meeting also held detailed discussions on job-oriented skills, particularly for computer science students, even before the completion of their degrees.
Participants termed emerging technologies an essential part of the curriculum.
Officials from the Ministry of IT and Telecommunications, Secretary IT Gilgit-Baltistan, Ministry of Education, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), PSDF, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), Huawei, and various Technical Education and Vocational Training Authorities (TEVTAs) attended the meeting.
