KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday sought a report on the missing persons from police and law enforcement agencies.
The SHC heard the petitions related to the recovery of missing persons.
The wife of a citizen Ali, who has been missing for 11 years from the area of Jamshed Quarters, told a sad story to the court. The woman said her husband had been missing for 11 years.
“What heinous crime had he committed that his punishment is not going to end? Does anyone know how difficult it is for a woman to live in this society? If I seek help from anyone he asks for something in return,” the poor woman told the court.
On the woman’s statement, the court expressed anger at the police and the interior department.
Justice Nimatullah questioned what was the JIT and the provincial task force doing in the end. “Do all public servants do duty just to get a salary? People remain missing for years. If they can’t trace the citizens, why don’t they leave the job?” the judge asked. The court ordered the appointment of an officer of SP rank to investigate the cases of missing persons.
The court also directed the IG police to take immediate action and told the police and investigation agencies to submit report by September 5. –Agencies
