ISLAMABAD: Chairperson Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Senator Sherry Rehman on Thursday felicitated the newly elected members of the Environment Journalists Forum (EJF).
In a statement here, she said, “Congratulations to the successful candidates for election to the Executive Body of the Environment Journalists Forum. My felicitations to Ali Jabir for being elected as President and Asghar Hayat as General Secretary of of EJF.
She also congratulated Rozina Ali, Ayesha Naz, Saadullah Saeed, Fauzia Ali, Sohail Butt, and Muhammad Mukhtar for being elected to the Forum’s executive body and also to Saqib Rathore, Amna Janjua and Aftab Jahan for being elected as members of the governing body.
“It is hoped that Environment Journalists Forum will play an important role in the development of environmental journalism and the forum will pave the way for improving the quality of reporting on complex and critical issues like climate change,” Sherry Rehman said.
The role of environmental journalists has become more important in today’s era as the environmental crisis is affecting every corner of the world, she added.
The Environment Journalists Forum’s voice and reporting will play an important role in promoting collective action to address environmental challenges, Senator Sherry Rehman said.
