SHIKARPUR: The Sindh police witnessed a massive reshuffle following a high-level Wednesday’s meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in Shikarpur.
CM Murad chaired a meeting to review the law and order situation after incidents of lawlessness in katcha area, the hotbed of criminal activities in the region.
According to a notification, SSP Shikarpur Saud Magsi and DIG Larkana were removed from the post over the killings of police officials during the anti-bandit operation in Katcha area of Shikarpur. SSP Saud Magsi was appointed as SSP Shaheed Benazirabad while SSP Tanveer Hussain Tunio reportedly has been appointed as new SSP Shikarpur. He will lead the operation against bandits in katcha area.
Moreover, Irfan Ali Baloch was appointed as DIG Shaheed Benazirabad, according to a notification.
The police recovered an abductee during the anti-bandit operation in katcha area of Shikarpur. CIA Police in-charge Abdul Wahid Buriro here said that a hostage has been recovered from bandits during the police operation in katcha area. “The recovered man was kidnapped from Shikarpur a month ago,” police officer said.
Provincial minister Mir Shabbir Bijarani in a statement earlier said that the Sindh government has given go-ahead for a military operation against bandit gangs in Shikarpur’s katcha area.
The military troops and the Rangers personnel will launch an operation against bandits in the area along with the Sindh Police, he said.
It is to be mentioned here that recently in an incident police killed eight bandits, while two policemen were also martyred in an operation against gangs of bandits in katcha area. The police had also recovered six abducted persons from bandits in the operation.
Separately on Wednesday, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said that the federal government has no plan of imposing governor’s rule in Sindh. Talking to the media at Jinnah International Airport Karachi, the interior minister said that he is visiting Karachi after PM Imran had issued him directives to visit Sindh over rising crimes in Sindh and hold a meeting with the Rangers.
“PM Imran has ordered me to go to Sindh and hold a meeting with Rangers over worsening law and order situation in the province including Karachi,” he told media.
The interior minister said that he will also meet with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah today (Thursday) and present the final report on the law and order situation in Sindh including Karachi to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“I have respect for CM Murad but will present my final report on law and order to PM Khan,” Rasheed said and added that final decision regarding Rangers operation or any other measure to improve law and order in the port city would be taken by PM Imran.
The federal minister said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will support any proposal of CM Murad regarding maintaining the law and order situation.
Sheikh Rasheed said that he will also hold a meeting with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and address an important press conference on Thursday at 4:00 pm.
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday directed the interior minister to visit Sindh over the worsening law and order situation in the province.
