ISLAMABAD: Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Tuesday extended warm greetings to the Sikh community on the joyous occasion of Vaisakhi, saying the festival conveys a message of interfaith harmony, brotherhood and tolerance.
In his message issued on the occasion of Vaisakhi, the Speaker said the festival symbolises the arrival of spring and is a centuries-old celebration of happiness, love and togetherness.
He said the people of Pakistan, belonging to different faiths and cultures, represent a beautiful bouquet of diversity, which reflects the country’s social strength and unity.
Ayaz Sadiq said the role of minority communities in the development and progress of Pakistan has always been of key importance and their contributions are deeply valued.
He said that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees all citizens the right to freely practise and celebrate their religious beliefs and traditions.
The Speaker prayed that the festival may bring happiness, peace and prosperity for people of all faiths across the country. –Agencies
