Special persons to be given 5% quota: Naveed

KARACHI: Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar has said that the DEPD is going to establish Five Percent Job Quota Implementation Cell to ensure that job quota for differently abled people is being implemented in letter and spirit in public and private sectors. This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office on Tuesday. Director DEPD Ghulam Nabi Nizamani, Advocate Shabbir Shah, Umair Ahmed and other stakeholders were also present in the meeting. Qassim Naveed said, ‘The aim of establishing Five Percent Job Quota Implementation Cell is to protect the rights of the persons with disabilities in public and private sectors as a number of complaints are being received from certain quarters that five percent job quota for differently abled people, is not being implemented.’
He said that Sindh was the only province that had increased job quota from two percent to five percent in public and private sectors for differently abled people, adding that we are also drafting rules for Implementation of the said policy. The Special Assistant to CM Sindh was of the opinion that through strict policy we could get our objective, otherwise the persons with disabilities will be deprived of their due rights. In the meeting several options were brought under discussion regarding Implementation of five percent job quota for differently abled persons in public and private sectors.– Agencies
