HANGZHOU: A special train with nearly 1,300 passengers from central China’s Hubei Province recently arrived in Hangzhou, capital of eastern Zhejiang Province, with passengers returning to work after the virus outbreak situation is eased.
The high-speed train departed from Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, and stopped at four stations in Hubei, picking up workers and their family members to take them back to Yuhang District in Hangzhou.
Liu Kai, from the city of Jingzhou, was on the train with four other family members.
“Although we were allowed to work remotely online, I was eager to go back since many colleagues have been at their posts for more than one month. I tried to charter a car back, but it’s unnecessary now. I don’t even need a ticket, just my ID and a health code, then I can get on the train,” Liu said.
Over 1,000 workers on the train are employees of more than 370 enterprises in Hangzhou, including over 400 at China’s e-commerce giant Alibaba. They are expected to help ease the shortage of employees there and help companies resume work. – Agencies
