ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of the IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Police has launched a special Friends of Police program to raise awareness among citizens about traffic laws and road safety.
The batch comprising students from the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Science and Technology (SZABIST), IQRA University and Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST) has completed their program.
In this regard, a dignified ceremony was held at the traffic police Headquarters Faizabad. The ceremony was attended by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, university students, and members of the Islamabad Police education team.
On the occasion, the CTO Islamabad Muhammad Sarfraz Virk welcomed the Friends of Police volunteers, highlighting the significance of completing their training and the arrival of a new batch.
For me, the most important thing was visiting schools and colleges to shape students’ minds for a better society. Changing public perception of the police is extremely difficult. We are presenting our processes and services to the public so that people understand what the police are, said CTO.
I do not believe in lofty claims but in working practically 24/7. Those who serve the public are chosen by Allah Almighty. The police department is the first to respond in difficult times. We are aligning the police with the demands of the modern era.
The Islamabad Police are the guardians of the blood of 63 martyrs. Regardless of the color of the uniform, our commitment remains the same. We have established a relationship with you that is everlasting. The police culture comprises positive elements that need to eliminate negative ones, he added.
The roles of volunteers in police and Friends of Police programs are the same, with public information being crucial in crime prevention.
Come, be a part of us, and serve the public together. At the end of the ceremony, he said that the Islamabad Police will continue to organize such programs in the future as well.
