Supplies arrive from Xinjiang at Khunjerab

ISLAMABAD: A batch of medical supplies provided by Xinjiang province, China has been delivered to Pakistan Army helicopters via Khunjerab Pass.
According to Gwadar Pro App, this batch of supplies were transited by road from Urumuqi, Xinjiang, China, and received by Pakistan Army Euro copter AS350 helicopters.
Including five respirators, 22,000 pieces of medical protective clothing, 240,000 pieces of test paper and 20,000 disposable medical masks, those consignments worth 67million rupees or 2.778 million yuan.
The medical supplies were donated for supporting Pakistan to combat with COVID-19.
Khunjerab Pass (4,733 meters above sea level) which is located in Xinjiang region, China, is the highest land port in the world.The harsh cold weather and strong wind today brought a series of challenge for staff of transportation from Pakistan and China. However, they industriously worked for a long time so that road could be cleaned and transportation of supplies could be guaranteed. Chinese embassy tweeted: “Both sides from China and Pakistan braved the cold, cleared the roads, made good preparations for the delivery of the medical supplies at the Khunjerab Pass.” Yesterday, PM Imran Khan conveyed sincere gratitude to China for supporting Pakistan in helping to confront Coronavirus. The medical equipment provided by China will efficiently strengthen Pakistan’s capacity of handling the epidemic.
On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing underlined that the Chinese government and leadership remained firmly committed to supporting Pakistan in combating with COVID-19 as the highest priority. Specifically, China is willing to share the experiences and provide devices and substances urgently requested by Pakistan. Aside from this batch of supplies, Xinjiang had also donated 100,000 masks to Pakistan earlier this month.
