DUSHANBE: The 14th session of the Belarus-Tajikistan intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation took place in Dushanbe, representatives of the Belarusian embassy in Tajikistan told media.
The session was chaired by Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Krupko and Tajikistani Agriculture Minister Ziyozoda Sulaymon Rizoi.
The Belarusian delegation also included representatives of the Industry Ministry, the Gomel Oblast administration, the state light industry concern Bellegprom, the state food industry concern Belgospishcheprom. Multiple representatives of the Belarusian private sector from the spheres of the manufacturing sector, agriculture, and food industry also arrived in Dushanbe in addition to the government officials.
Participants of the session discussed results of Belarus-Tajikistan trade and economic cooperation in the last few years and the organization of events meant to increase trade turnover. The sides also talked about topical aspects of cooperation in industry and manufacturing cooperation, agriculture, transport, healthcare, education, investments, and information technologies.
A protocol was signed as a result of the session. It was the first time the advancement of cooperation in information technologies had been included into the document.
While in Dushanbe the Belarusian agriculture and food minister met with Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Gulmakhmadzoda Davlatshoh Kurbonali. The sides discussed manufacturing cooperation and ways to step up economic cooperation.
A Made in Belarus exhibition will take place in Dushanbe on 6-7 April. It will be accompanied by the Belarus-Tajikistan-Afghanistan business forum, the TajBelAgro forum, and negotiations between representatives of business circles. While in Tajikistan the Belarusian delegation also intends to visit Khatlon Oblast. – Agencies
