ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Tuesday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s parliamentary system, saying Parliament remained the most important pillar of the democratic system and the true representative of the people’s aspirations.
In a message posted on X to mark World Parliament Day, he said Parliament transformed the people’s aspirations into laws and played a central role in shaping national policies.
He said that Parliament was the key institution that gave practical effect to the spirit of the Constitution. He said that strong parliamentary institutions were the foundation of transparent governance.
He said effective legislation, democratic continuity, and national stability depended on a strong parliamentary system.
The minister said Parliament also maintained the constitutional balance among state institutions and played a key role in promoting democratic traditions in the country.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs remained committed to making the parliamentary system more effective and modern while taking practical steps to improve its responsiveness to the public.
He said strengthening the legislative process remained one of the ministry’s top priorities and pledged to carry out its responsibilities with integrity, transparency, and in the national interest.
He also called for collective efforts to uphold the Constitution, strengthen parliamentary traditions, and promote democratic values across the country.
