Test specialist batters did scenario-based practice

KARACHI: 11 Test specialists and six additional players took part in a four-day scenario-based practice match here at National Stadium on Thursday.
Abid Ali, Imran Butt, Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam took time at the crease to prepare themselves for the upcoming Test series against West Indies in their backyard. Under the supervision of the National High-Performance Centre (NHPC)’s Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Yousaf, batters tried to work on their weaknesses and strength.
Six additional players including Akif Javed, Irfanullah Shah, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Hassan, Mohammad Umar, and Saifullah Bangash gained experience while playing with experienced cricketers.
Meanwhile, Mushtaq Ahmed worked with spinner Nauman Ali on the side net. Remember, Nauman has cemented his position in the national team as a regular spinner. He took a fifer on his debut in Karachi Test against South Africa. Since his debut in January 2021, he has taken 16 wickets in four Tests with two five-wicket hauls.
Pakistan is scheduled to play two Tests against West Indies from August 3. 11 Test specialists will go in a bio-secure bubble for the West Indies tour here on July 21 followed by their departure on 26.
