ISLAMABAD: The remaining 34 students of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Punjab’s Dual Diploma Program departed for China on Sunday from Islamabad International Airport, completing the travel of all 70 students of the program’s second batch. Earlier, 36 students had already reached China to join their respective institutions. The entire batch will now pursue the third and final year of their Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) studies in leading Chinese technical institutes.
Representing the Chairman TEVTA, SDG Mr. Akhtar Abbas Bharwana was present at the airport to see off the departing students. He was accompanied by Engr. Muhammad Usman Ali, Regional Director North and representatives from TEVTA institutes, and officials from TANG China. Mr. Bharwana conveyed the best wishes of the Chairman to the students and their families, assuring them that TEVTA would stand firmly with them throughout their stay in China.
“We are maintaining continuous coordination with the students, their parents, and our Chinese partner institutions to ensure smooth implementation and long-term success of this program,” said Mr. Bharwana, adding that TEVTA is committed to expanding this initiative in the future.
Earlier, 36 students from Punjab had departed for China under the same program, which operates under an agreement between Punjab TEVTA and the Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology (SIIT). The joint three-year curriculum allows students to complete two years of study in Pakistan followed by one academic year in China. The program currently offers training in mechatronics, software engineering, textile technology, and advanced construction technology. The first batch of students under the same initiative has already returned to Pakistan after successfully completing their studies in China, demonstrating the program’s success and sustainability.
Speaking to media, Engr. Muhammad Usman Ali said the initiative is a historic step for technical education in Pakistan. “For the first time, our diploma students are studying abroad through such an organized exchange. They are not only representing Pakistan but are also gaining specialized skills that will make them highly employable in both local and international markets,” he said.
“These young learners are our ambassadors of technical excellence, and their experience will help them secure highly paid positions in fields related to construction, textiles, and mechatronics, particularly in ongoing and upcoming CPEC projects.”
