Thatta Police tighten security around CPEC projects

BEIJING: The Thatta Police have intensified both law-enforcement operations and security measures across the district, with particular emphasis on safeguarding China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
Acting under the directives of Inspector General of Sindh Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hyderabad Range Tariq Razak Daharijo, the Thatta Police on Saturday afternoon advanced efforts to enhance protection of key development sites—especially those under CPEC.
Under Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bajarani’s supervision, Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) conducted visits to CPEC and non-CPEC infrastructure sites, assessing security layers, inspecting access control procedures, and reviewing the strategic deployment of police officers and private security personnel. The officers were briefed extensively on duty compliance, weapon readiness, ammunition protocols, and vigilance standards mandated for high-value development projects involving foreign participation, particularly Chinese engineers and technicians.
SSP Farooq Ahmed stressed that no unauthorized individual, local or foreign, will be allowed entry to any CPEC-linked project without proper clearance. He warned that violations of security procedures would invite strict legal action, reflecting Sindh Police’s commitment to fulfilling national obligations under CPEC’s security framework.
He ordered all SDPOs to conduct frequent inspections at these strategic sites to ensure flawless implementation of government-issued security protocols and to maintain a secure environment for ongoing Chinese-assisted development works across the district. The enhanced vigilance underscores Pakistan’s resolve to ensure the smooth execution of CPEC initiatives that play a vital role in regional connectivity, economic development, and local job creation. –Agencies
