Tranche of Japanese aid arrives in Karachi

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani authorities have received a first tranche of Japanese aid including Tents and Plastic Sheets at Karachi Airport to assess those affected by current monsoon floods, Japanese Embassy said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
The statement also announced that a second shipment is scheduled to reach today (Friday), as Pakistanis brace for another spell of above-normal rains this month.
“In response to the current devastating damages caused by the flood, the first Japanese emergency relief goods (Tents and Plastic Sheets) arrived at Jinnah International Airport Karachi on August 30”, the statement stated, adding “the second shipment is scheduled to arrive on September 2”. Renewing firm commitment, the Embassy said Japan was stand by the people of Pakistan whenever, especially in such difficult times. –PR
