Tree plantation drive launched in Lahore

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Wildlife and Fisheries Malik Asad Ali Khokhar inaugurated planting 5000 saplings campaign at Jallo Park Lahore.
Talking to media representatives on the occasion, Malik Asad Khokhar said that it is our fundamental responsibility to provide neat and clean environment to our future generations. In this regard government is making sincere efforts to promote clean and green environment in the province, he added. The purpose behind this campaign is to create awareness among the people about importance of trees. Besides creating awareness among the masses about benefits of trees, we will also have to undertake steps for their protection and safety, he maintained.
Plantation drive will also be undertaken in other wildlife parks across the province and 20 thousand additional saplings will be planted in Safari Park Lahore. Director General Wildlife Tahir Hamdani said that due to plantation animals will be provided with natural environment and it will also prove to be beneficial in their breeding process.
