Trump claims Iranian supreme leader has agreed to US-Iran deal

US President Donald Trump said he had made a “great settlement” with Iran, adding finalisation could be possible within the next few days.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, he said signing could happen soon, possibly in Europe, describing documents as being in a “pretty final stage” of the Iran deal process.

Trump said he had spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and would also talk to Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He added that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen immediately after signing, calling the Iran agreement a very strong memorandum of understanding.

Trump said he understood Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had agreed a deal, reiterating that Iran would not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon. –Agencies
