Turkey seeks production continuity amid pandemic

ISTANBUL: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey has been trying to ensure sustainability in production and employment during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are trying to protect the health of our nation and ensure the production and employment to continue without interruption,” Erdogan said at a trade fair in Istanbul.
The Turkish leader noted that the government has been working hard to reduce the pandemic-related troubles of all the segments with diverse supports while taking all the necessary steps to curb the pandemic.
Facing a sharp rise in the COVID-19 cases for the last couple of weeks, the government has recently adopted a series of partial lockdowns and introduced new limitations for businesses.
Under the new restrictions, restaurants, cafes, shopping malls, and hairdressers would be operational from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., while restaurants and cafes would only provide takeaway and delivery services.
The activities of local gaming halls, clubs, tea gardens, as well as soccer turf fields were suspended until a new decision. –Agencies
