TANK: At least two children died and properties were damaged as flood torrents wrecked havoc in different areas of district Tank after consecutive heavy rainfall in mountainous belt of South Waziristan on Thursday.
The devastating flood torrents entered different areas of Tank including Barakheil, Kot Allah Dad, Pir Kuch, Gara Baloch, Gul Imam causing damage to communication means and infrastructure in the area.
A house wall in village Gul Imam collapsed leaving 6-year-old Sajjad and 7-years old Ayesha were severely wounded and were rushed to DHQ Hospital where both succumbed to their wounds. Meanwhile irrigation band at Barakheil was swept away by flash flood torrents which caused severe damage to the standing crops of wheat and gram.
District Administration has launched an emergency rescue and relief operation in different flood affected areas while a shelter room had also been established in Deputy Commissioner Office.
