UAF aims to produce quality Seed for boosting Agricultural production

FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) will pace up efforts to produce quality seed in order to boost up agriculture productivity and address the problems of farming community, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Anas Sarwar Qureshi.
He was chairing the meeting of the Graduate Studies Research Board at the Syndicate Room. Director Graduate Studies Dr Ejaz Ahmad Waraich presented the agenda.
The Vice Chancellor said that the country was importing seeds worth billions of rupees that may be curtailed by producing at national level. He said that UAF being the mother of all agricultural institutions was taking all possible to address the problems of the farming community and combat different agricultural challenges.
He added that the country was blessed with four seasons, best eco-system and fertile lands. He said that due to traditional way of farming, our per acre agricultural productivity was low.
He said that the UAF was initiating a project on quality seed production where they were strengthening seed sciences degree programs.
The meeting also okayed the different degree programs including MPhil Bio technology for main campus and MScs Entomology ; Plant Breeds an Genetics; and Environmental Sciences for Burewala Campus that would be presented before Academic Council for approval.
Registrar Tariq Mehmud Gill, Treasurer Umar Saeed Qadri, all deans, directors and principals of sub campuses attended.
