BEIJING: During the opening of 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) on September 4, the exhibition screens of Shanghai Baoye Group Co. Ltd., an engineering contracting service provider, show the intelligent construction of Universal Beijing Resort, a theme park and entertainment resort based in Beijing.
Initiated at the beginning of 2019, the resort will open for trial operation in the spring of 2021. It is expected to become the world’s largest Universal Studio theme park upon completion.
During the design and construction, it has adopted building information modeling and 3D technologies in developing virtual models of buildings in the resort, which can save costs of over 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) through identifying problems in advance and helping constructors make quick and accurate decisions, according to the engineering team of the company.
The resort will include the Universal Studios Beijing theme park, Universal CityWalk and two hotels.
The construction of its main buildings was completed on September 1 and that of the iconic globe will be finished by the end of September.
Universal CityWalk at the entrance of the park is expected to be completed by the end of October, the resort said.
“Universal CityWalk will also open in 2021. It will be another key business circle attracting international and domestic brands to open their first store here in Beijing,” Xu Liping, Vice President of the government affairs department of Beijing International Resort Co., told Xinhua News Agency.
The resort is attending the CIFTIS as a representative enterprise of the domestic tourism sector. Under the theme of “Global Services, Shared Prosperity,” the six-day event this year with both online and offline exhibitions has attracted a total of 18,000 enterprises and institutions from 148 countries and regions.
