ISLAMABAD: The Pharmacy Services and Drug Control (PS&DC), Health Department, Islamabad Capital Terrotorry (ICT) has sealed a pharmacy operating without a valid Drug Sale Licence (DSL) during an inspection conducted as part of ongoing regulatory enforcement.
Unlicensed pharmacy sealed in ICT
A PS&DC-ICT team inspected a pharmacy operating within a medical centre and found the premises involved in the sale of therapeutic goods and medicines without the requisite legal authorisation, besides overpricing. The pharmacy was subsequently sealed in accordance with law.
The enforcement operation was conducted by Drug Inspectors Ms Amber Basharat, Gulzaib Khan and Ms Tahreem Sara under the supervision of Secretary Quality Control Board Sardar Shabbir Ahmed.
PS&DC-ICT advised all registered medical practitioners to strictly comply with applicable drug laws and the advisory issued following the recent Federal Constitutional Court judgment.
It reiterated that no pharmacy, medical store or other outlet selling therapeutic goods or medicines could operate without a valid Drug Sale Licence as required under law.
Licensed distributors were also directed to stop supplying medicines and therapeutic goods to pharmacies, medical stores, medical centres or other premises involved in sales without the requisite licence.
The department said it would continue monitoring compliance and initiate legal and regulatory action against individuals or entities found violating the applicable requirements.
